Who Am I? Where do I come from?
Who am I? Where do I come from? Why are the relatives on my mother’s side so dense?
I received an update email from Ancestory.com today telling me my DNA sample has arrived at their testing labs. This is some good news indeed! To be honest I want closure to where my mother’s ancestors originated. Unfortunately my cousins have led me astray yet again in a recent email.
In one of my previous posts I stated that my father’s side of the family is mainly German in origin. My mother’s side has been a bit more vague and misleading in their responses to my queries. At first my mother’s relatives said we were Irish. Then in the 1980’s one of my cousins claimed he did some extensive research into the family tree and discovered that they are Scottish in origin. Now it has changed once again!
While doing some research of my own I couldn’t find much on my grandpa (father to my mom). He was kind of an asshole in life, so he never kept much in documentation and I think most people disliked the guy. So I reached out to my cousins. Now they claimed that their mom, my aunt, did research through Ancestory.com or one of the other sites, and found that they are Dutch in origin. Great Odin’s beard, thank the gods for DNA sequencing.
My cousins are supposed to send me their findings. To be honest, I gave up on their words and question their reliabilities. I can’t wait to get my results back from the DNA test.
Has anyone else had the same issues when researching their own family tree? I feel like one of those assholes on the Ancestory.com commercial that believed they were one nationality then switch to another. I guess I have to wait until the results come back.
