Kiln Is In the House
Breaking News: The kiln has arrived! Praise Odin and the other Gods, my wait is finally over. The pottery store delivered this used beauty last Friday. They went thru and replaced all the elements, a few of the bricks inside that were broke, and installed a new computer board. This baby is ready for hot party action!
The outside needs a little cleanup, but like mom used to say, “it’s not what you look like on the outside that counts”. The inside is like brand new!
During my first bisque firing, the food inspector came in to search for any illegal food contraband. Teddy Spaghetti sweeps the floor for any food related items. Hyldo Baggins was not far behind.
Ghetto ventilation system initiated! Who needs a $700 vent hood when you have a shop fan? Not this guy! 🙂
Look at that air movement! This bisque should take no time to fire. Fingers crossed.
The stoneware glaze firing was a different story. Lol, for some reason when I did this firing it repeated the bisque program. No big deal, I reran the stoneware firing again. Four hours in I received the dreaded error “E–1”. I call the pottery store and they came right out to diagnose the issue.
Apparently I need to leave the doors open when doing stoneware because the computer board got to hot and shut down. After a reset, some open doors, and my trusty fan, the stoneware firing is completed.
I can’t wait to get home tonight to see how they turned out!
Well that all for now. I will post some pictures of my completed works as soon as the kiln cools down. See you later!
